Hong Kem-ja graduated from Sudo Womens Collage of Education. Taught the Korean language at a high school.
Made her debut by winning the New Writers Prize in 1987 from the Arts World published by the Korea Federation of Arts Associations.
Is a board member of the Korean Centre of International PEN and a standing committee member of the Korea Poets Association.
Is a vice president of the Korea Christian Writers Association and the representative of Poetry Village Literary Group.
Has published 11 volumes of poetry including Wind through Foliage and a collection of essays Landscapes of Literature.
Has won the Yoon Dong-ju literary prize, the New Millennium Korea literary prize, the Mapo-gu cultural prize, the Ullim Arts grand prize, the monthly Pure Literature prize.
